Laclede Projected and Actual Release
A projected release date is not one universal field. Missouri DOC uses terms such as sentence minimum release date, sentence maximum release date, and presumptive parole release date. The minimum is documented as the conditional-release date. The maximum represents service of the full court-set term. A presumptive parole date is tentative and depends on continued appropriate conduct and an acceptable release plan. None is automatically the date the prison door opens.
An actual release date records a completed custody event. The person may leave an institution for parole or conditional release, reach sentence expiration, or move to another authority. A transfer ends one agency’s custody while confinement continues. For the Laclede County Jail, the sheriff’s release entry should identify the processed date and time, authority or reason, and any receiving agency. For Missouri prison custody, use the DOC caseworker, Board decision, or release record.
- Minimum release date
- The DOC term for the sentence conditional-release date.
- Maximum release date
- The date tied to service of the full court-set term.
- Presumptive parole release date
- A tentative Board date subject to conduct and an acceptable release plan.
- Actual release date
- The date the responsible agency completed the physical custody change.
Find a Laclede Release Date
Begin with custody classification. The Laclede County Jail holds pretrial detainees and some sentenced inmates, but no Missouri state prison sits in the county. A person arrested locally may also transfer to Missouri DOC, another county, federal custody, or another authority. The arresting agency is not always the physical custodian. A Lebanon Police arrest, for example, does not by itself establish which agency calculates the date.
For an active Missouri prisoner, start with the Missouri DOC Offender Search. Search exact names and aliases, match the DOC number, and preserve each date’s exact label. The portal is for active offenders and expressly excludes discharged offenders. An absent result does not prove release. For the county jail, call the Laclede County Sheriff at 417-532-2311 and separate the current-custody question from the request for a historical booking and release record.
- Identify the physical custodian: Laclede County Jail, Missouri DOC, another jail, BOP, USMS, or ICE.
- Determine whether the person is pretrial, serving a county sentence, or serving a Missouri prison sentence.
- For DOC custody, search by name and alias, match the DOC number, and copy each displayed label without renaming it.
- For a county sentence, obtain the court judgment and jail-credit terms, then ask the sheriff for the current calculation.
- If parole is involved, check the hearing and Board decision route rather than treating eligibility as a granted date.
- Confirm the actual event with the holding agency and follow any named transfer to the receiving authority.
The broader Laclede County released inmate search helps identify the right custody and records channel. Keep that identity step separate from the date calculation itself.
Note: A court order can authorize release, but the sheriff record shows when county staff actually processed the person out.
Laclede Jail Release-Date Limits
A Laclede County pretrial detainee usually has no sentence-based projected release date. Release can turn on bond conditions, dismissal, a court order, case resolution, or another hold. Case.net may show the order that changed the legal status, yet the docket does not necessarily record the jail-door time. Ask the sheriff whether the order was executed and whether another authority received the person.
A county-jail sentence requires a different calculation from a Missouri prison term. Request the judgment from the Laclede County Circuit Clerk and ask for the terms that address jail credit. Then ask the jail for its current calculation and the facts it used. No current Laclede-specific good-time rule, weekend-release policy, or automatic holiday adjustment was found. Applying another county’s practice would be unsupported.
Transfers need special care. A Laclede release entry may show Missouri DOC, another county, USMS, ICE, or another detainer authority as the destination. That event is a release from Laclede custody, but it is not a release to the community. Follow the receiving agency and start a new calculation under that system.
Missouri Conditional Release Dates
RSMo 558.011 supplies the basic conditional-release division for many term-of-years felony sentences, unless another rule applies. For terms of nine years or less, the conditional-release part is one-third. For terms longer than nine through fifteen years, it is three years. For terms longer than fifteen years, it is five years. The prison part is the remainder.
That framework is not universal. The cited subsection excludes dangerous felonies and a fourth or later DOC remand in the relevant circumstances. Other rules may control. DOC describes conditional release as a date determined by law for non-life offenders, not simply a prize for good conduct. A lawful Board process can extend the date up to the full sentence for institutional violations, and other statutory program conditions can affect it.
The official statutory text can be viewed at the Missouri Revisor’s conditional-release section.
The captured law shows why a sentence label must be read with its exclusions and any other controlling statute.
Laclede Prison Minimum Release Terms
RSMo 558.019 applies offense-specific minimum prison terms to an enumerated list. It does not govern every Missouri conviction. For a covered non-dangerous felony, one prior prison commitment produces a 40-percent minimum, two produce 50 percent, and three or more produce 80 percent, subject to the statutory age alternatives.
A covered dangerous felony, as defined by Missouri law, generally requires 85 percent or the age-70 and 40-percent alternative, whichever occurs first. It is inaccurate to say all violent offenses require 85 percent. The precise offense, statutory definition, prior commitments, sentencing date, age provisions, exclusions, and later amendments must be checked. For calculation under the section, life is treated as 30 years and an aggregate longer than 75 years as 75 years.
“Minimum prison term” means the period before eligibility for parole, conditional release, or another early release. Eligibility is not a release order. The Parole Board retains its statutory role, and a projected date can remain contingent on a release plan, conduct, and sentence calculation.
The source text is available from the Missouri offense-specific minimum-term statute.
The statute image helps distinguish a listed-offense rule from a blanket percentage applied to all Missouri sentences.
Note: Never use the 85-percent rule without first matching the conviction to the current statutory definition and listed-offense provisions.
Laclede DOC Release-Date Fields
The DOC Sunshine working-data file is a historical lead for people who are or have been under supervision. It can contain several rows for one person because it is charge-level. Its documented fields include the DOC ID, identity fields, assigned place, a field-or-institution flag, cause number, offense and sentencing counties, sentence date, minimum and maximum release dates, sentence length, probation data, and a sentence-completed flag.
The file uses dates in YYYYMMDD form. Several numeric codes are not dates: 99999999 means life, 88888888 means indeterminate or interstate, and 66666666 means court assessment or investigation. A completed flag marked Y applies to that charge-level sentence. It does not establish the person-level date of physical release.
| DOC item | Correct use | Do not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum release date | Read as the documented conditional-release date | The actual day custody ended |
| Maximum release date | Read as the full court-set term date | That no earlier lawful release can occur |
| Field flag | Evidence consistent with community supervision | Final discharge from DOC |
| Institution flag | Evidence consistent with institutional assignment | The exact present cell or facility without confirmation |
| Completed flag | Completion of the charge-level sentence row | A discrete release event or release reason |
DOC warns of data conversions, unverified or self-reported elements, and no guarantee of completeness. Use the file to locate a likely record, then ask the caseworker or DOC Sunshine custodian for the calculated date and actual release documentation.
Laclede Parole Date Decisions
Parole adds a Board decision to the date path. Under RSMo 217.690, the Missouri Parole Board issues parole orders. A hearing date is not a release date. The Blue Book’s sentence-length schedule is a framework rather than a named-person calendar, and the public Board site does not offer a person-by-person decision search.
After a hearing, the Board may set another hearing within one to five years or may set a future release date. DOC states that decisions normally take eight to twelve weeks. A presumptive date remains tentative, subject to appropriate institutional behavior and an acceptable release plan. A rejected plan, later Board action, or another legal condition can affect the outcome.
For one person, ask the institutional parole officer, field officer, Board, or Office of Victim Services for the available hearing or decision record. Do not convert a guideline, eligibility estimate, or silence in a public portal into a grant or denial.
Why Laclede Release Dates Change
Release dates move for specific legal and administrative reasons. The mere fact of a change does not reveal which reason applies. Match any change to a court record, DOC calculation, Board action, or notice from the agency that controls the sentence.
| Factor | Possible effect | Record to check |
|---|---|---|
| Corrected jail credit | Changes time credited toward the term | Judgment, amended order, and agency calculation |
| Concurrent or consecutive sentences | Changes how multiple terms combine | Sentencing order and DOC calculation |
| Institutional misconduct | Can support lawful conditional-release extension | DOC disciplinary and Board record |
| Parole action | Can set, reconsider, or leave a future date contingent | Parole Board decision |
| Release plan or program condition | Can delay a tentative date when a condition is unmet | Caseworker and Board record |
| Detainer or hold | Can send the person to another authority | Holding and receiving agency records |
| Corrected calculation | Can move a displayed date in either direction | DOC records custodian or caseworker |
A court amendment can also change the judgment. The court docket provides legal context, while the correctional agency performs the custody calculation. Read both when the dates conflict.
Note: A transfer date may be final for Laclede County but only the start of custody under another agency.
Confirm a Laclede Release Event
A notification is an alert, not the sentence calculation. Missouri’s current local system is MOVANS. It can report a contributing agency’s custody change, but the message may not explain release authority, transfer destination, or ongoing supervision. The Laclede County VINELink Inmate Search page explains the current MOVANS SMS and email process.
For county custody, confirm with the sheriff’s release record. For Missouri prison custody, confirm with the caseworker, DOC record, and any Board decision. If another agency received the person, use that agency’s locator or records process. A federal BOP result, USMS pretrial case, and ICE custody record each require a separate route.
Preserve the exact date label, the date the portal says its data was current, and any status text. Then ask a plain question: “Is this a projected date, an eligibility date, a transfer date, or the completed release event?” That distinction prevents a planning estimate from being repeated as a fact.
